I'm available! (No, not like that!)

A bit of excitement today... the lovely ladies in my Higher class informed that they’d Googled me and found ‘Ferryman’ on Amazon.  So... big halt to the lesson (don’t think they were particularly enjoying Textual Analysis...) and there I was!  I can be pre-ordered!!!
Now... if I can just work out how to add a link.  Hmmm.

Picture Perfect!

So here it is... the front cover design for Ferryman!  I think it's totally FABULOUS and I have to say thank-you thank-you to Templar (and specifically Will Steele) for coming up with it.  I am a very happy author bunny!!!

How do I thank thee, let me count the ways...

So the edits are done - wow was that a slog! - and the manuscript is off to be type-set ready to be turned into a book.  A book! In case you can't tell, I'm very excited!

Next part of the process?  All the thank-yous!  I thought this would be the nice, easy part of the process.  How hard can it be to come up with a list of people who've helped an idea become a book?  Answer: not hard at all.  How hard is it to write thank-yous to all those people?  Mega! I sat, laptop on my knees, fingers on keys, all good to go.  What came into my head.  Hee-haw, to get all Sottish on you.

There are two things I'm pretty rubbish at: goodbyes and thank-yous.  I thought it'd be easier, what with it being all written down and not face to face, but no.  I still suck.  Oh well, I shall just have to hope that everyone who reads them and sees their name down there as someone I couldn't have written the book without can see around my bumbling and mumbling and get down to the core of what I'm really trying to say.

Ta.  Muchos gracias.  Thanking you. I am indebted... In other words:

"Epic" kissing

I got a very exciting e-mail on Thursday... my "edits" from my editor at Templar for Ferryman!  We're on quite a tight schedule so I've only got 2 weeks (eek!) to do a bit of a revamp and get it all ship-shape.  So I almost had a heart attack when I opened her attachment and saw that there were TWELVE PAGES of notes!

A glass of wine and a big bar of chocolate later, though, and I calmed down a bit.  And, when I read all her comments over, it's hard to think anything other than: she's right!  So I'm being a good girl and getting stuck in.

Today's job: ramping up the epic kiss.  It's got to be "worth dying for" apparently.  I need inspiration.  Tried the mood music, but it's just not happening, so I think there's nothing for it but to go out and see if I can find some gorgeous, hunky bloke to illustrate to me what an "epic kiss" is meant to be like.

I guess I should probably start with my husband... (sigh) ;)

Goodies from Templar :)

So I got an awesome goody-bag from the lovely people at Templar the other day including some of their current titles.  I'll admit that I stood like a geek for a good few minutes stroking the nice unbroken spine and sniffing at the pages to get that "new book" smell.  Awesome.

Then I started to read...

I kicked off with "Swim the Fly" by Don Calame just because it had the brightest cover.  I figured I had maybe a half an hour's free time before I had to go walk the Jazz-monster and get on with boring worky stuff, so I could at least chow down on the first few chapters.  Four hours later, I was still there, work was undone and poor Jazz was crossing her legs!  I honestly couldn't put it down!  It was so funny and - in a very weird way - really informative.  So that's how teenage boys think.  Huh.

Anyway, I'm moving on to VIII by H. M. Castor which I am very intrigued by because I love historical fiction and I know absolutely nothing about Henry VIII except he did away with all his wives!!!

Who wants to work when there are books to read?!? ;)

Testing, testing, one, two, three...

Well hello!

This is my first ever blog, I'm quite excited.

If you're reading this, you probably know who I am, but if you just happened to randomly swing by and stayed long enough to read this far... then this next bit is for you!

I'm a YA writer and I've just signed a contract with Templar Publishing, which, when I think about it, makes me start skipping round the room :)  My first book, Ferryman, is due out in spring next year so I am on the precipice of a whirlwind and very excited about it.

This blog is where I'll post about my books, news and exciting things that happen, and anything else random that happens to come along.

Please come back and visit soon!
